We need another heavyweight computer/network systems administrator for our R&D network. The system is a highly mission-critical high-uptime system created by and for the R&D staff. We have expanded beyond our current staff and need your help. SERIOUS APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE. RESPONSIBILITIES 1 Support R&D computer and automation equipment (workstations and PC's), including hardware and software installations and updates. 2 Perform system-level repair of personal computers. 3 Assist users in day-to-day operations of ECAD, MCAD and office tools in R&D. 4 Support the generation of mechanical and electrical components libraries. 5 Maintain an archive area for all computer generated product documentation. 6 Create and maintain all system configurations and their documentation. 7 Participate in relevant policy and procedure generation. EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS 1 Open mind regarding standardization of computer tools and the enforcement of policies and procedures required to make engineering automation effective. 2 Comprehensive knowledge of computer operating systems, especially UNIX and MS-DOS. Includes some computer programming responsibilities. 3 Comprehensive knowledge of network operating systems, especially Novell NetWare and Sun Microsystems' NFS. Hands-on experience with NetWare. 4 Strong knowledge of workstations, PC's, networks, related cabling. 5 Excellent manual dexterity, knowledge of hand tools and their use. 6 Knowledge of office tool software (wordprocessor, spreadsheet, etc.); basic typing skills. 7 Experience in working within typical computer user community, and assisting in their problems. 8 Two (2) year technical college minimum; Novell Certified Netware Engineer (CNE) degree, BS in Engineering helpful. Regarding Office Tools: We use a suite of MS-Windows tools, including WordPerfect, Excel and Paradox. You should understand how Windows is properly setup on a NetWare network. Regarding CAD tools: We use all of the Cadence (formerly Valid Logic Systems) system design tools for ECAD, and Parametric Technologies Pro/ENGINEER for MCAD. Salary is in the $40k range.
